There is a worldwide shortage of Graphics Cards and neither Nvidia or AMD Cards are the exception. This is because of the popularity of Crypto Mining, that is affecting the GPU market and gamers are suffering everywhere. This dilemma affects mostly mid to high-end graphics, ranging from GTX 1060/RX 480 to GTX 1080Ti, most are out of stock in almost all local markets because they are scarce, few online stores are selling them and that too for a lot more than they are worth.
Low-end cards like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti has had its price raised to about 270USD, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB is now available for about 500USD and the AMD Radeon RX 580 is available for 600USD. It’s been a year or so since the mining craze affected the whole Graphics Cards market, PC gamers are discouraged because with the current price of GPUs it seems buying a console would be more convenient. A GTX 1060 costs more than a Ps4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio, the two consoles give a better gaming experience than the GTX 1060 for almost the same price if not less and we aren’t even counting the other part required for a fully functional PC. In short, Mining has made the glorious PC master race, not so glorious.
Nvidia, however, has made an attempt to address this. Although they haven’t resolved this situation completely, they are selling their Graphics Cards online on their official website’s shop for very reasonable prices. Nvidia claims that they will start mass producing their GPUs in the 3rd Quarter of 2018 and aim to finish the GPU shortage by the fourth quarter of 2018. Nvidia’s next generation of graphics cards the “2000 series” is also on its way. The 2000 series will feature the new Ampere architecture and GDDR6 memory. This will certainly fix the shortage of Graphics Cards.
Keep your fingers crossed and keep checking online stores , that day is near when graphics cards will be back to their original prices !
