Lara Croft’s origin story is going to end with the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The upcoming installment by Square Enix in Tomb Raider series has been in work and news as well for quite some time now. It has been leaked and teased many times even before it was announced officially in March.
Although there have been more than a dozen game releases starring Lara Croft since 1996 when the franchise began, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the 12th main installment. It might be the final game of Square Enix series but this is the one in which Lara finally becomes Tomb Raider.
Shadow of Tomb Raider is releasing in September
The game is scheduled to release on September 14, 2018. It will be releasing for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Unlike Rise of Tomb Raider, this one will be hitting the stores worldwide for all the platforms on the same day. The game will be competing against Spider-Man PS4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for sales.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is going to be the final installment in the rebooted Tomb Raider series by Square Enix. The series also inspired the film Tomb Raider which was recently released.

Another thing to note here is that Unlike the last few games of the Tomb Raider series since 2006, Crystal Dynamics is not behind this one. The last game in which they contributed is Rise of Tomb Raider which released in 2015. Eidos Montreal who is responsible for Thief and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is responsible for the development of this last installment. According to some sources, Crystal Dynamics is working on an Avengers game for Marvel along with a team from Eidos Montreal and that’s why they are not contributing to this installment.
In another news, Square Enix also announced that there will be a crossover between Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy XV at the PAX East 2018. They didn’t share much but said that more news will be coming soon on this matter.
