Everyone thought that it was a premature move by JVC Kenwood when they announced head units with wireless android auto. However, that support is finally here as Google has enabled wireless android auto in vehicles which have a wireless-compatible system.
But, there’s a catch, you should have a Google Phone with Oreo running inside it. It means, only Pixel, Pixel 2, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P are capable of running android auto wirelessly. People with Samsung, LG, or other brands will have to wait and have to stick with a USB cable for now.
Smartphone-based car interfaces and especially wireless ones have not been so common regardless of the phone you own. Apple’s CarPlay has been providing the wireless connections for a long time now but still, it is not that common when compared with its wired competitor.
But now, as more and more handsets with such capabilities are coming out, car manufacturers might be working on adding wireless support to their cars.
