343 Industries recently announced new features coming to Halo Infinite and it is the long awaited 4 player split screen mode. Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President and The Head of 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross, said at DICE 2017 that all the coming future First Person Shooter Halo games are going to have split screen modes, however, it was not officially confirmed for Halo Infinite until now.
Halo 5: Guardians did not have the classic split screen multiplayer and it was upsetting to then fans. 343 said the decision to not include the split screen mode, “was one of the most difficult ones we’ve ever had to make as a studio.”
All of the new features coming to Halo Infinite have been posted in a Reddit post, these include the addition of Black Undersuits i.e the parts of the armor that are not “the metal pieces.” The art department stated that they were aware how much the fans wanted them to be a part of Halo games.Halo Infinite will also have player customization inspired by Halo Reach.PC players are also going to get new features, as Halo Infinite’s Slipspace engine has been created with PC players in mind, and as 343 said that the PC players will be, “treated as a first-class citizen”.
In an interview that VentureBeat had recently with Ross on her upcoming induction into the Academy of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, she talked about the universe in Halo, and how it is also the “fans’ universe” just as much as 343’s.
“Honestly, we have made mistakes along the way. The community has helped us in creating good learning experiences for us. But I think that when I look at Halo, the universe is the most important character and we are stewards of the universe,” Ross said.
“The whole team looks at this as not just our universe. It’s the fans’ universe,” Ross continued. “It is a part of our culture, this precious, precious world, and we’re responsible for taking care of it. And we want to do it right. The work that they have done, the work we’re doing on Halo Infinite is something that I am so proud.”
